PICTURES!

I have posted so many times without any pictures lately... So here they are, in random order of course, pictures from the last couple of months....

This is the youngest member of the Ray family, his name is Corbin (The Ray's were in our ward in California). The Ray's were here for a few months from Utah -we are sad we only got together with them at the end of their time here but we enjoyed seeing them for a couple of days. Corbin looks happy in this picture but he was actually hiding under the table because he didn't want to leave our house.
Haylee getting ready to dye eggs, she insisted I have the camera so that I would not miss a moment.
While we were dying eggs Sierra had homework to do.
Our very lovely eggs, some fabulous person even wrote "Mom is super cool" on one of our eggs.
Haylee wanted to put on her Easter dress before she began hunting so that she would look fab. :)
HD got promoted to MAJOR in JROTC -for you non military people that translates to HD is AWESOME! He can only make Lt. Colonel and Colonel before he has reached the highest rank in JROTC. He also became the Vice Commander of MD-JROTC unit 20071. SECOND in Command! Very cool!
See the yellow ropes on his shoulder? Only the Commander and Vice Commander get fancy things like that. :)
With his minions -I mean sisters.
My mom was here for the day -just 30 hours but it worked out perfectly for her to be here for his ceremony.
I actually made Haylee the dress she is wearing in these pictures. She is such a poser!
Cute.
Love this sassy pants girl.
this is from about 2 months ago when she was not feeling so sassy, she was SO sick. Haylee is my healthiest kid by a mile and this virus got her good. I have never seen anyone barf that much in my entire life -no kidding like 18 times in 6 hours. And she was so good about it. I was a crazy bleacher sanitizer every 2 seconds mom and it worked none of the rest of us got it! woo hoo -its the small victories that make me happy. :)
My friend adopted a baby girl and I made her this! It was my first tutu and it turned out so cute! If you can't tell the once has beads painted on it so it looks like a necklace. It was so fun to make.
This is Daisy about three weeks after her accident. Poor dog looks like we tried to saw her in half but she is doing GREAT!
We have been doing LOTS of this- I love being out in the sun and watching D get better and better.
Poor Daisy had to wear a shirt for a while because she was scratching her incision to much.
She was none to happy about wearing clothes.
This is Sierra on the red carpet after performing at our church's night of the arts. She sang a song from a Disney movie. It was AWESOME!!!
Here she is posing in the same dress, I got that dress for FIVE dollars and ninety nine cents! I KNOW!! It was originally 60 bucks!!!
This is the first day Joe wore his Master Sargent stripes. We are very proud of him!
He was not cooperating with me for the photos or they would've been better!
More baseball
A good leadoff at third

And that's it! For now anyway!

If I don't write it down...

I'll forget all the funny things Haylee says. We are at the store today and she is making motions with her hands as we walk around like she is tossing something from hand to hand but her hands are empty. So I finally ask her:

Me: What are you doing sis?
Haylee: Throwing my invisible ball back and forth
Me: Gotcha. Make sure you don't drop it (I say jokingly)
Haylee: (totally serious but with a smirk on her face) I already dropped it once but don't worry I found it.
Me: (laughing) that's good
Haylee: Yeah! Do you know how hard it is to find an invisible ball?

Oh goodness I will miss all these funny things when she grows up. :)

Another funny...

Haylee and I were headed out to lunch with a friend yesterday. Before we left the house I noticed her zipper was down the conversation went like this:

Mom: Hey sis, your zipper is down.
Haylee: oops!
Mom: When I was a kid we would say "your barn door's open, don't let the cows out"
Haylee: (laughs -and then says) Yeah, and don't let the snakes in!

She may make it through her teenage years after all! lol :)

I told her she needed to remember that and make sure and tell her dad when he got home from work! LOL It was too funny, she had no idea what she was saying but to pick snakes out of anything else she could have said...I was dying!

Funnies and not funnies

Two Haylee funnies:

One: She was sick REALLY sick over the weekend, like threw up 18 times (NO KIDDING) in six hours six. After the #whatever trip to the bathroom I hugged her and she said "Mom, I don't wanna hug you, you can't get sick" I told her not to worry that she could still hug me and we would wash our hands etc... she said "No, you can't get sick because you are the only one that cares about me." I laughed and reminded her that dad, D, and Sis, loved and cared about her too and she said "no they don't! Dad always just tells me that I will be fine and to suck it up" lol It was pretty funny. Definitely not as much sympathy from dad.

Two: Tonight we were standing on our covered porch watching some lightning that was far to the east of us but still very bright and Haylee told me she was getting nervous to be outside. I told her she could go in but I was going to stand and watch it for a few minutes longer. Her response was grabbing my arm and then saying "No mom, I am staying with you. If we die we die together!" LOL CRACKS. ME. UP.

The not funnies are the yucky stuff that has happened to us a couple of weeks ago. On Saturday March 6th Daisy, our sweetest best dog in the whole world, was chasing a squirrel and she got caught on a bolt sticking out of the fence and ripped her left side open. It was not good. We rushed her to the vet where she had emergency surgery to close the wound and ended up with 30 staples in her side and a drainage tube. It was awful. We were lucky that none of the kids saw her all opened up and that we ended up at the vet we did. I prayed the whole way there that they would be able to help her we knew it wasn't life threatening but that it would be bank account threatening and I was worried that we wouldn't be able to afford the vet bill. The vet we ended up at was just a regular clinic that was open on a Saturday not an emergency clinic. If we had ended up at an emergency clinic the bill would have been twice as much and we would not have been able to afford it. The good news is Daisy is healing great she got her staples out last Saturday and the vet said she is good to go. A huge blessing as there was a possibility of a second surgery but she doesn't need one. We are so grateful.

Joe left on Sunday for the week and on that Monday I was in a car accident and totaled our little Nissan Sentra that we had bought for the kids to drive. The accident was totally my fault and we only had liability insurance so the car was a total loss. I felt so awful for wrecking the car. However, even though it was awful to lose the car I was hit in the drivers side door which is not a good place to have another car hit you. I hit my head on the window and was bruised and sore the next week or so but sustained no other injuries. If I had been hit by any other type of vehicle or if the other driver had been speeding I could've easily ended up in the hospital or worse. The windows held in that little car or I would have had a face full of glass. I am so, so, so thankful that I was watched over and protected, none of the kids were in the car with me, and the other driver was fine as well. SO THANKFUL!

Anywho, just wanted to write about those things. I have been wanting to write for awhile but things have been crazier than usual obviously. :)

Happy Spring everyone.

FIRE!

There was a house fire just one street over from us last night. It was scary but the fire department responded very quickly and no one was harmed -HUGE bonus to living on base the fire department is less than 1 mile from every single house- anywho, so with the fire happening so close to our house it sparked a few conversations today about what to do during a fire, where to meet, when did we last change the batteries in our smoke detector....etc.. Haylee is not a level headed child she gets very scared very quickly when something is out of her control. She is SO SO SO type A just like her dad and her grandma Huhmann. She kind of freaked out last night when she saw the black smoke rising into the sky and the flames at the top of the house, before she even saw flames she ran over to my neighbors house burst in their door and said "THERE'S A HOUSE ON FIRE YOU HAVE TO COME OUT HERE!" my neighbors were pretty sure it wasn't our house that was on fire but their kids who are 6, 4, and 2 were scared to death. While we were standing outside every time we would see flames Haylee would say "OH MY GOSH!" in a way that would indicate we were going to die at any moment. lol to me very real to her. I had to keep reminding her to stay calm and that we weren't in any danger. Later on that night I talked to her about her freaking out and scaring the neighbor kids, she realized she overreacted and was fine. This morning we had this conversation:

Haylee: mom I am sorry I freaked out last night
Me: That's ok, but I want to talk to you about being level headed and thinking clearly when there is an emergency. The most important thing in any emergency is to STAY CALM. If you freak out you will not make the best decisions, stay calm and it will help you stay safe. That's why we practice what to do in an emergency.
Haylee: Yeah ok, like I know if I am in my room and there is a fire I feel the door before I go out and if it's hot I put a blanket at the bottom of the door so smoke can't get in my room then I go to the window and open it as wide as I can and yell for help.
Me: That's exactly right, good job.
Haylee: So I am going to yell for help two times then jump out the window!

LOL! So much for keeping a level head. We were cracking up and then had to talk to her about how it wouldn't make sense to injure yourself jumping out the window unless your room was so full of smoke you couldn't breathe or the fire was very close to you. It was too funny though. All that talk about how important it was to stay calm and she is jumping 5 seconds after she opens her window.

Gosh I love that girl!
