Last weekend

Last weekend we went to the Chief Recognition Ceremony.  It is to recognize the people who made Chief the last cycle.  (The cycle happens annually) :) there were only four at our base.  One of them was my good friend Amber who battled breast cancer this last year.  She is an amazing lady!!  So fun to be able to celebrate with her.
New dress!!  It had pockets and I LOVED IT!  Got tons of compliments.  :)

My friend Laura, I met her two years ago at the Chief orientation we attended at Barksdale AFB, LA

Joe is on the right third guy down. This is the saber team that the chiefs and their escorts walk through as they are announced.

Us.

CMSAF ret. Rod J. McKinley

Joe standing for the Chief’s oath.

Me and Amber and her hubby Lee.  He is a Chief too!

All the Chief’s at Minot.

Joe wanted to be fancy.
Keva, Laura, Stephanie and me

All the Chief Spouses that attended.

I didn’t wear a coat. Joe said he would pick me up at the door.  When we were leaving he said it “wasn’t bad out”. I almost froze to death.  Actually froze!  Lol.  I think I earned a new badge of honor.

The next day I did my hair a little differently.  I told Joe we should take a pic.  This is how he posed for me.  Goof.

Just me. My hair is getting long.

Haylee was in the play The Hobbit.  She had a teeny, tiny part and mostly hated the rehearsals.  In the end it turned out great and she was sad it was over.

Haylee as part of the Elven Guard

She looked so pretty!

She is the front goblin in the lower pic. Their masks were great!

Bows.

Pretty ND skies.

And last but not least this sweet baby boy!!  He deserves his own post for sure but I am tacking him on at the end just he case he doesn’t get it this go round.  Lol.  This is our sweet baby Emmett.  (That’s his name unless divine revelation tells them otherwise)  it is amazing what you can see in a sonogram.  This is his 3D photo.  No matter what they did he would not uncover his face!  He is going to be a pro at peek-a-boo.  Oh how his Mimi can’t wait to hold him.  I think he looks like Kass in this picture even though you can only really see his mouth.  :)

Cutest profile EVER.  Can’t wait to kiss those sweet cheeks.  Just over 11 weeks to go!!! Yay!!

Last two weeks

Sometimes it is easier to put the pictures in and then tell the story.  I haven’t blogged and I want to remember.
Haylee had a big fall ice skating managing to cut a Nike swoosh into the back of her upper thigh and bruise her right knee pretty badly, add that to her already bruised left knee, bruised hip and elbow and that kid was beat up.

A huge area around the swoosh was bruised the next day.  HUGE. She is so lucky she didn’t cut herself worse.

Joe had my flowers delivered for Valentine’s Day.  Well sort of, I had to go get them because they didn’t deliver when they were supposed to.  I had to sign a waiver not to leave them outside lol gotta love artic weather. The waiver didn’t tell me not to let the cold air hit them AT ALL.  They were exposed to a very low negative windchill and did not fair well. I replaced some of them with Haylee’s flowers and kept the bouquet going.  :)

Between play practice and ice skating this kid aaa exhausted. We have been trying to get to church early -at least 20 minutes if not more, to sit and think and read. I let Haylee take a short nap on my lap until sacrament started.

The next day dad came home.  It isn’t often we are without him for several weeks.  We misssd him a lot!

More early morning practice with Ashley.

At the competition!

Our skater girl!

She did great!  This was right before dad had to go back to work.
That night we attended the annual awards.
This is my FAVORITE hair -do EVER!!

All dressed up.

Chief Spouses. Jessica, Stephanie, Bertha and Natalie.

Keva and I. She is one of my favorite people ever.

Haylee and Ashley Saturday at the competition. Haylee fell at the very beginning of her program but manamged to jump right back up.  She was great!

And she won back to back gold!  My beautiful girl!!

That night we went curling- (see why there is no time to blog? Busy busy busy) this was the sunset.  When there are ice crystals in the air the light seems to shine straight up.  I had never seen it with the sun.  It was AMAZING.  Also, had we not arrived 30 minutes early due to a mistake on my part we would have missed it.  Things happen for a reason, even if we don’t see it each time.

The curling rink.

We had so much fun!

We had about 30 people.  Here is our team of 8.  I was so sore from the lunging that I could barely walk the next day!  Lol.  We had such a great time!!
Sirra and her Joey.  :) he is her favorite guy.

That catches us up to this weekend.  I will blog about that tomorrow.  Promise! :) lots more goings on.

Lingering lunch

I got a text from my friend Stephanie that she missed me even though I saw her on Friday :) It is nice to be missed and have friends want to see you!  We decided to go to lunch.  We invited Laura too.  We have a lot of fun together!  We ate at Qdoba and then went to Starbucks.  I got hot cocoa. We were out for about four hours.  It is so nice to chat and laugh together.

I saw this post on Facebook yesterday.  It is proof that Murphy’s law definitely rears it’s ugly head for military spouses.  So much snow this month while Joe has been gone.

I took Haylee to the rink this morning at 6. Then dropped her at school around 7:40.  This was the sunrise on my way home.  The beautiful snow covered prarie.

We saw a B-52 taking off.  Amazing.

Picked Haylee up at 5:30 - it was snowing like crazy I love that she was catching snowflakes on her tongue.

Snowing to beat the band!

I gave her, her Valentine’s gifts from dad.

He called me two weeks ago and asked me to order her flowers from the florist on base. He was having a hard time getting ahold of anyone.

He told me what to spend and sent a picture of what he had in mind.  ❤️ In the end the florist on base wasn’t helpful so I went to Walmart and got these beauties tonight.  She loved them!!!

Double the flowers we would have got for that price at the florist.  :)

Duct tape explanation

Proof it’s the end of the day, I didn’t even blog about the duct tape title!  Lol.
Last week Keva and I headed to the temple. The weather in Minot was horrible, tons of blowing snow, bad roads - Keva and I decided we would see how the weather was south of Minot and if it didn’t clear up we would just say forget it. We said a prayer we would be safe and the roads cleared up like we had hoped.  We chatted and laughed and had some great spiritual discussions on the way to Bismarck.  As we were getting of the high way in Bismarck just a few miles from the temple, we hit ice going into the turn and slid into a truck waiting at the light.  Good news we were all ok -us and the truck driver, and the sherif was really nice. The car was banged up but driveable.

The headlight on the drivers side was hanging by a cord so we decided to go to target and get some duct tape.  While at target we put together a sunshine care package for Keva’s oldest daughter Katie who is in her first year of college.  When we came out of target Keva asked me to look up  TJMaxx and get directions. As she was taping the headlight a lady came out and asked if she wanted help. Keva’s reply? “No thanks, I’m just duct taping my life back together.” She and the lady both cracked up. It was at that moment I realized the check engine light was on so I decided to climb out and make sure the car wasn’t leaking any fluids. So here is Keva almost sitting in the snow in a dress no less and I say “hey the check engine light is on” before I can finish she says something like  “yeah, no kidding”  We cracked up again.  If ya don’t laugh you will cry right? We had fun shopping and went to lunch and laughed some more before heading home.

This pic was last week too.  Our microwave broke. We only bought it seven months ago!  So lame.  I still wasn’t cleared to carry heavy stuff (I had loaded the old microwave to the car to take back earlier that day but Haylee would NOT let me help her with this)
It wasn’t super heavy just awkward. As she rounds this corner and has to lay on the car she says at this moment “I hate gravity!”  Lol.  She is a good kid and funny to boot!  She and I will survive when Joe is gone.  Girl power!!!
