FIFTEEN years ago today

Fifteen years ago today this tiny boy came into our lives. He was born 4 weeks early and weighed just a tiny 5lbs. 3oz. and was 18 and a half inches long. We had no idea that day just what a precious gift we had been blessed with. He was a very happy baby. Such a good little guy for a very young mom who was learning how to do everything. This picture is him at one year old. He only weighed 16 lbs and 13 oz! Still such a little guy! This is one of my favorite pictures of D. He is 2 and a half. What a handsome boy! :) In this picture he is six years old. So handsome and the best 6 year old I could ask for.
This is his third grade picture. He was 8.
I won't embarass him with any more pictures from the past. :) We are SO SO SO grateful to have been given this great kid. I will never be able to put into words how fantastic he really is. At 15 he attends church every week because he wants to not because I make him, he takes his preisthood very seriously, he goes to early morning seminary at 5:30 every morning, again because he wants to not because I make him. He is kind, compassionate, obidient, a loyal friend, a good big brother, and one of the best sons around. We could not ask for a better 15 year old! :)

Happy Birthday D! We love you!!!

I'm grateful....

..........for a lot of things. But today I am grateful for snow! We have been waiting.....and waitng.... and waiting.....for a bunch of the cold white stuff. We don't usually get snow here until late Jan early Feb so it has arrived right on time but it has been freezing here so we have been hoping for weeks! Of all the places we have lived I love the weather in Maryland the best. It rains a lot - not like Seattle by any means but more than enough to keep everything green all summer with out watering your lawn. Summer is humid but only for a couple of months, spring and fall are longer than most places and our winters are mild. We average 20 inches of snow a year. Last year I think we got about 5! Here is our snow from this morning...not a lot especially for our UT/ID/CO family but enough for us to have some fun in it! :) Oh and this snowfall, not even an inch, is enough to close schools around the area. Bring on the kids and fun!

One happy kid!!!
Look out Haylee!
here it comes!!!
I am also grateful for my wonderful husband. He takes such good care of us. I never have to ask him to clear the driveway or change the oil in my car. He is two steps ahead of me every time. I took this picture through my front door where my Valentine's decorations say LOVE. That is what I feel when I look out the window at my hubby. I am so grateful for him!
Thanks honey!
Happy Snow Day Everyone!!!

Bye Bye George...

Happy New Year! And happy January almost February! :) Long time no post, I know, I know! Since I last blogged at Christmas I'll start with New Years. We brought in the new year surrounded by friends and family and pretending we were rockstars! :) We had such a fun night! Singing, chatting, eating, and laughing was a great way to bring in 2009. Here are a few shots from our fun night.
The kids taking a turn
Haylee rocking out on the drums. She is really good!
Check out her face. She really is a rockstar!
"the band" :)
the cutest guitar player of them all! :)
Right after New Years Joe left on a TDY (temporary duty assingment) so the kids and I have had the house to ourselves. We have been keeping busy with the daily grind and have been enjoying watching all the events/news leading up to the inaguration today. It is such a huge opportunity to live right here in our nations capital. We have seen so many great things and on days like today get to feel like we were a part of history being so close to everything. We did not go into the city today. It was way to cold and there were SO many people!!! We would've had to wait there all night! No thanks! It was enough for us to be here and watch on tv knowing that that historical moment was happening just around the corner. We did have a small part in the day when we went over to the flightline and watched President Bush take off for the last time aboard AF One -it was actually aircraft 28000 since he was now former President Bush - all the same anytime we see the big plane we call it AF One. :) I got to see a bunch of the guys Joe works with on tv and one guy imparticular our good friend Rob got to hand the President a plaque before he left. AWESOME! I wish Joe would have been here to see all of this and to meet the President but such is the way it goes sometimes he needed to be somewhere else. Oh well! :) Here are a few pictures from the president leaving for the last time.

Off he goes into the wild blue yonder!
Bye bye George!
We'll miss you!
Just a quick FYI there is an Air Force One special that is going to be on the National Geographic Channel this Sunday at 8:00PM eastern time. Joe was out there for most of the time we are filming so we are hoping that Sunday will be his primetime tv premier. :) If any of you want his autograph after that just let me know I have the inside track. :)

I have been in my pj's all day! :) It is hard to be away from family but we have come to love the quietness and closeness that spending the day with 'just us' brings. We watched 3 movies and played a LONG game of Monopoly. It was a fantastic day. The kids could not ask for more than they recieved today. We are so blessed!
